Overcoming Depression...

I see despair and depression all around like a pandemic. It blankets our modern-day society like a dark cloud that never lifts off of the masses. Much of it stems from the trauma of the past few years, along with the stressors of difficult circumstances, unsupportive relationships, unhealthy environments, mental & physical abuses, too much social media usage, and also from isolation.

Depression is exacerbated by a nutrient deficient diet, and the ingestion of toxic ingredients that deplete energy & nutrients such as monosodium glutamate, (MSG) artificial ingredients like aspartame and saccharine along with excessive amounts of caffeine & artificial fillers in our beverages & foods, not to mention the fluoride in our drinking water.

The truth is we live in a very toxic world, and we always need to be detoxifying our bodies on a daily basis. Whether it be detoxifying, negative thoughts or the effects of toxic ingredients, it takes a good offense to offset the effects of depression.

Often times, those who are depressed will tell me they are constipated and do not movel their bowels at least 1-2 times daily. Some may go 5 days or longer without a bowel movement. Our bodies are meant to "detox" daily through regular bowel movements and through regular urination. Sadly, some who are depressed may only urinate 1-2 times a day. As I begin to explain the importance of moving the bowels frequently and increasing their output of urination, its as if a light bulb goes off in their heads, and they begin to see hope for a brighter future.

While this information is basic and rudimentary for many, it is still foundational. Without daily detox a body will suffer. The drainage pathways in the body must be open and functioning well in order to begin the journey of recovering one's health from any dis-ease.

Some helpful strategies are getting daily exercise and sunlight, whether it be a walk or spending time bouncing on a rebounder, this is paramount to elevating mood and moving the lymph system.

Getting adequate and high quality, magnesium and high-quality fish oils are really important for overall health. Not to mention supplementing with vitamin D, vitamin C, the B vitamins , zinc, and quercetin. These are helpful for brain, health, nervous system health, and overall health.

Another very important area of focus is understanding exactly what effect the medications one is taking are having on their body, both short and long term. As individuals realize the effects these meds are having on their overall health, many will decide that they want to wean off them.

Please note: It is never a good idea for a person to stop their medications without the guidance and supervision of a doctor experienced in helping people to taper off meds. A sudden abrupt stop can be very dangerous, and possibly fatal. I repeat... It is crucial for a person who is seeking to wean of their medications to do so under the guidance and supervision of a doctor who has great successful results doing so.

Speak from my own experiences...

  • I’ve seen people come off of benzos under the supervision of doctors, slowly tapered off over time. They recovered their health and their joy and they overcame depression.

  • I've seen people lower their blood sugar through lifestyle changes and come off of diabetes medication. They changed the way they ate and years of damage began to heal. Deep sores healed, clarity of mind returned and they experienced greater quality of life. And isn't that what it's all about anyway?

  • I've seen people lose weight and come off of blood pressure medications. Once they learned that their blood pressure medication‘s are depleting them of the very vitamins, and nutrients that they need to regulate blood pressure and other bodily functions, they become highly motivated to do everything they can to break the vicious cycle of taking drugs, and feeling physically depleted. I’ve seen people wean themselves off of blood pressure medicines over a period of time and regain their natural strength, stamina, energy, memory, and focus.

I truly believe with God all things are possible. Of course, people choosing to wean themselves off of medications, should do so with the support and advice of an integrative or holistic doctor and/or a knowledgeable health practitioner that is licensed and has experience helping people to taper off meds.

My greatest elixir to a modern-day society plagued by electro-magnetic-frequencies, despair and depression is to take time to be alone with God, concentrate on His goodness and faithfulness, practice thanksgiving and gratitude, get out in nature and take time to sing, laugh and spend time with friends and family. These do wonders for the spirit, soul and body. to laugh, to talk, and to just experience the companionship of others. This does wonders for mindset and health.
